Capital Public Radio’s #NextGenRadio Program Accepting Apps for October NOW!

A little bit late of a heads-up, but better late than never!

Millennials in Media wanted to let all of its current and prospective members know about a fantastic opportunity with Capital Public Radio called Next Generation Radio. The program, which is co-sponsored by NPR,  is a one-week student radio training seminar for current Sacramento State University students and recent Sac State Spring 2015 grads who have a demonstrated ability in either journalism, film or digital video.  It runs from October 4-9 at Sacramento State, and only those who are able to attend all five days are encouraged to apply.

Based off of NPR’s description of the program,  #NextGenRadio selects at least six students to participate in a week-long radio broadcast workshop, where the student journalists craft their own radio stories from a wide range of topics in the chosen area of coverage (in this case, Sacramento).  Aside from going out and running down these stories using professional equipment, participants will also take part in a number of training sessions, touching on radio broadcast skills such as audio production, writing, on-air presentation and recording techniques, according to NPR’s Next Generation Radio Texas.

Last but not least, the deadline to apply is tomorrow: Tuesday, September 8, 2015. No applications will be accepted after September 8 (which we assume means midnight is the real deadline).

Get your application in if  you’re interested, as this is such a great window to explore one’s interest in radio broadcast and journalism as a whole. Have at least a few writing samples available for submission (published ones would be great if you got ’em). And if you have any questions between today and tomorrow, reach out to Molly Dugan at mdugan@saclink.csus.edu or Catherine Stifter at catherine.stifter@csus.edu for answers.

Just in case you missed all the hyperlinks above, you can apply for Capital Public Radio’s 2015 #NextGenRadio program here.

Best of luck, guys! Let us know how it goes.
